We highly recommend that you find an almanac or lunar-oriented datebook to help you with planning out your own magical year. Some we can recommend:
- Or your local Farmer’s Almanac!
Our folktale this month is “The Peddler of Swaffham,” recorded by Joseph Jacobs and available on the Archive.org site (public domain).
A good, brief introduction to tasseomancy is The Stranger in the Cup, by Gregory Lee White.
If you are interested in playing card divination, you can check out our Cartomancy post or pick up Cory’s book, 54 Devils.
You can now buy Cory’s book, New World Witchery: A Trove of North American Folk Magic! (also available from Amazon)

Are transcripts available; not an audio fan? Enjoyed your book.
Hi! We have transcripts of our Folk Magician’s Notebook episodes and most episodes starting in 2022 available through our Patreon (available at any level of support). We have been testing out transcription software over the past few months to a year and plan to make transcripts for new shows available to everyone hopefully starting in 2023. At some point we’ll also try to go back and get transcripts of some previous episodes, too.
