In this, the first of a series of short episodes, Cory and Laine discuss their recent Hallows Eve working in the woods. These episodes will be chronicling our experiences with magical practices and rituals, and are more or less unedited and have very little production work done on them. Apologies for sound issues or other problems, but we hope you enjoy getting a little personal insight into what we do.

  1. Loved this. I always find hearing about other experiances facinating and informative. Thanks so much for sharing such a personal thing with us. Oh and I like the mirror idea. I hope it ends up working for ya’s!

      We’ll have to see how the mirror works out (maybe that will wind up being another mini-episode). But I’m glad that for the most part people like this idea for episodes. Hopefully they’ll continue to be worthwhile.

  2. I LOVED this mini-episode. I thought it was nice to hear Cory and Laine talk about the same magical working very close to the actual time when it had been done. I would be interested in hearing more of these type of update shows for the same reason we take pictures of our altars—to share experiences, feelings, and work. Thank you both for sharing with us.

    1. Aww, thanks Joseph! Glad you liked it! I don’t know if they’ll wind up being informative or just entertaining, in the end, but I liked doing this episode a lot. Hopefully there will be plenty more where that came from 🙂

  3. Did I miss something?? What was the purpose of this working? Was it to bring back the essence of the well to use at another time??

    1. Hi Maureen,

      Yes, I thought we had said that, but we may have been a little jumbled and not mentioned it. The idea was that the mirror would be something we could use to draw upon the power of that place (the well and the stone chimney in the woods) without going all the way out there every time.

  4. Please keep sharing your experiences with us. It’s really educational. When I first got into this I honest to goodness thought I ought to be seeing full apparitions, smoke and fire etc. the full occult works, all at once, everytime. It’s pretty reassuring and also really grounding to actually hear of real experiences.

  5. This was a fascinating episode. Since I’m solitary and I’m still very new at this, even when I try to keep things focused and simple, there’s a voice in the back of my head ‘what the heck are you doing? Are you sure you’re ‘doing it right”? It’s interesting to hear your impressions of the night’s events and I’ll second Hans’ comment about reassuring.

    And Laine, I also wanted to thank you for mentioning fear. As I’m working on focus and trying to pay closer attention to the world, I see/sense more than I did, and sometimes it’s just frankly freaky, whether I’m doing it to myself or not.

    On the ritual possession, is it possible that an entity would want to stay embodied and not leave? Is the purpose of the possession to share knowledge and information the entity has with others?

    Again, thanks for the great show. It just keeps getting better. Really enjoy the personal accounts.

  8. I’ve been following the podcast for a while now, and I just wanted to congratulate you guys on what I think is a great episode. It always interests me to hear how other witches work. I found your idea for using the mirror as a portable gateway very intriguing and wondered if you have you thought about leaving the main mirror in the well, and linking it with two smaller mirrors (one that each of you can carry with you), rather than just charging one mirror and taking it away?

  9. I have really been enjoying catching up with all of your podcasts so far. I have a question regarding this one. The feather that you found, you said was a raptor feather. My question is this: Should Pagans really keep something like that when it’s illegal? Not trying to be argumentative I’m just curious as to how far the law should be pushed when it comes to religion.
